Riya Chakraborty was not released even at the end of her term!

Actress Riya Chakraborty has been arrested in a drug case in connection with the death of rising Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The court then ordered him to stay in jail for 14 days.

His prison term ended on Tuesday (September 22nd), but he was not released. The Special Court for Drug Cases NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) has extended his custody for another 14 days.

He will have to stay in Baikulla Jail in Mumbai till October 6. However, Riya and her brother Shauvik have already applied for bail in the Bombay High Court. The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Riya was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on September 9 after a drug case was registered in connection with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. He was remanded in custody for 14 days. The NCB had filed a fresh application in the court on Tuesday after that period expired. That is why the court granted 14 more days of custody.

Riya was in a relationship with Sushant for several months before his death. But after Sushant’s hanging body was recovered from Bandra’s house on June 14, the family of the late actor took Riya to the task. Sushant’s father filed a case in the name of Riya. She alleges that Rhea stole her son’s money and pushed him to his death.

Initially, the Maharashtra Police was tasked with investigating Sushant’s death, but it was handed over to the CBI on the orders of the Supreme Court. It is the responsibility of the Enforcement Directorate to look into the allegations of money laundering.

Meanwhile, actress Deepika Padukone has also been named in the case of drug addiction. On Tuesday, the NCB interrogated Deepika’s manager Karisma Prakash. Talent agency executive Jaya Saha was also questioned for the second time on the same day. Sushant’s manager Shruti Modi was also questioned.
